Armistice Day 2011

The Armistice, an agreement to end the fighting of the First World War as a prelude to peace negotitations, began at 11:00 a.m. on 11th November 1918.

To this day we mark Armistice Day around the United Kingdom with a Two Minute Silence at 11:00 a.m. on the 11th day of the 11th month.

Armistice is Latin for TO STAND (STILL) ARMS.

The Royal Legion do lots of work all year round to support War Veterans and their families.
