Tower Hamlets’ new SEND and Inclusion Strategy

In September the Tower Hamlets’ Health and Wellbeing Board approved the SEND and Inclusion Strategy that sets out the priorities we will work towards as a partnership over the next five years.

These priorities were developed in discussion with young people, parents, carers and the professionals who make up our SEND Local Area workforce.

The strategy sets out how our partnership will work together to deliver the right support to make sure that our children and young adults with SEND are able to thrive and fulfil their potential. You can find the SEND strategy information below: here: include link. This link also includes

The strategy covers six priority areas:

  1. Timely, effective and well-coordinated support
  2. User-friendly services
  3. Early identification and support for the under-fives
  4. Effective education and support for school-age children with SEND and additional needs
  5. Opportunities and support for young adults with SEND and additional needs
  6. Children and young people with SEND and neurodiversity are valued, celebrated and supported to thrive.

Your feedback helped us to make several changes to the strategy, including:

  • Clearer emphasis of the role of the SEND partnership
  • Shared outcomes for children and young people with SEND
  • Specific commitments around alternative provision and to children and young people with SEND who are known to children’s social care, youth justice and probationUpdated performance measures

We thank everyone who shared their views to shape the strategy.
